In late September 2011, three instructional days were added to the 2011-12 school year calendar. The three school days, all in May, had tentatively been scheduled as furlough days, but were reinstated through a negotiated settlement with the Vacaville Teacher's Union. Vaca Peña Mission Statement

While being responsive to the unique characteristics and needs of young adolescents, the Mission of Vaca Peña Middle School, in partnership with the community, is to prepare each student to successfully transition from middle school to high school.  This will be accomplished by providing a safe, academically challenging, caring environment that strives to have all students become life-long learners and productive, responsible citizens.
